Becoming Mama offers KG Hypnobirthing as a complete antenatal course based on science and logic, that provides information about the natural physiology of labour, the optimum conditions to achieve a smooth, efficient and comfortable birth, and the options available in different situations, taught by a practising midwife.  Our course is relaxed, in a homely environment, and aims to answer all your questions, enabling true informed choice. 

During our course we cover myths around hypnosis (neither you or your partner will do anything embarrassing involuntarily, nor will you sleep your way through labour!), demonstrate the power of the mind and provide practical information. KG Hypnobirthing combines self hypnosis techniques, and the power of positive language, with information and knowledge about the process of natural labour and birth. This will help you re-think your views and expectations of birth, enabling you to feel confident and trust your body, which is naturally designed to give birth. 

To be effective, daily practice is required at home, but you will reap the rewards. We cannot promise a pain-free birth, but KG Hypnobirthing always makes a difference, leading to a calm, confident and empowering birth experience, whatever the situation. Not all births go to plan, but at Becoming Mama we are passionate about you being able to use your new knowledge and techniques for Plans B, C or D, as well as Plan A, ensuring all possibilities lead to a positive transition to parenthood. 

Our course is for anyone expecting a baby, looking for an informed and calm birth. This could be with all the unknowns, worries and questions of a first baby, or after a previous challenging birth. Partners are fully included as a crucial part of birth preparation, but equally you can utilise hypnobirthing techniques by yourself, and are more than welcome to join our supportive group classes alone.


The Becoming Mama course is structured into 4x 2.5hour classes, providing a total of 10 hours of dedicated teaching from a practising midwife. We will cover:

Session 1 - Introduction to hypnotherapy, the power of the mind, and the physiology of labour;

Session 2 - Relaxation and Breathing techniques, and practical tips to prepare your body physically for birth;

Session 3 - Information and discussions around medical interventions, options and choice, plus an introduction to aromatherapy;

Session 4 - The Birth and meeting your baby! 

Session 5 (an optional extra) - All things after the birth,  including initial recovery, feeding, baby care and the 4th trimester.

Included in the price of our course are links to relaxation MP3s, The Hypnobirthing Book (Katharine Graves), and a folder of relaxation scripts, birth stories, packing list for hospital, plus more. 

Becoming Mama offers hypnobirthing as either a private course, or as a group of friends, in your own home. 


If you already have some KG Hypnobirthing knowledge, previous experience, or have already been to a full antenatal course, then this option of personalised stand-alone sessions could be for you.
